Perth Median Near $1M: What it means for prices & investors

Tight supply, pulled-forward demand, and a unit pivot are doing the heavy lifting

Perth's median house price is less than $20,000 shy of $1 million after rising about $90,000 over the past year, according to Domain's September report. That would make Perth the last major mainland capital to cross the $1m threshold, leaving Hobart and Darwin as the only capitals firmly below it. Nationally, detached-house prices have risen for 11 straight quarters, the longest run since 2015, with September posting the fastest quarterly growth in almost four years.

Medians across the capitals now cluster tightly between ~$1.05m and ~1.76m (Sydney on top), with Brisbane edging past. . .
